CIT 111 ASSINMENT BY OLANIPEKUN SHARON KEMISOLA

Who am I? funny you should ask. Well, true be told I am also yet to find out but, as a way of introduction my name is Olanipekun Sharon Kemisola, I am in my late teens, I belong to a family of six with three brothers and a sister, you might be thinking oh she has such a big family but to be honest I barely notice how big the family is. Why you ask. In my family we all have systems we refer to as lives of our own, so nobody intrudes into other people’s lives except the parents of course. Well enough about my family matters I haven’t even told you anything particular to me so, let’s dive right into that.

Just like I said earlier my name is Olanipekun Sharon Kemisola , I hail from Ado-Ekiti town in Ekiti state , I was born and bred in the city of Port Harcourt, I attended Bimaks international school Offa in Kwara state and yes that is a long way to go for secondary schooling but  you want to know the real reason I was shipped off there, well it was just so I could hear and speak my mother’s tongue and not only that, my elder siblings also attended and graduated by the grace of God  from the afore mentioned institution of learning. My time in secondary school will not be missed I can say that with all confidence, because those years broke, fixed, drained, fooled and scared a whole lot out of me. I admit and I am sure I am not the only out here who feels the same right guys? You just affirmed that didn’t you? o well as they say. “all’s well that ends well” and it indeed ended well praise God. And on the note of school and education I am pleased to announce that I am back in the system and thought to update you all about how it’s been going so far.

I have the privilege to have applied and received admission into one of the most renowned and prestigious schools in the whole country that is currently taking the world by storm, by name Covenant University, located Ota Ogun State. Now, if my memory serves me right, I have spent almost a whole month within the beautiful gates of Hebron and yes as I write this, I realize how time flies and that it indeed waits for nobody. If I was asked to summarize my experience so far in covenant in just one word, I would not be able to, because my experience I would say is beyond one word description.

Covenant University is a lovely place to be, it embodies a set of core values (Spirituality, Integrity, Possibility mentality, Capacity building, Responsibility, Discipline and Sacrifice) one of the values that intrigues me is the school’s love for spirituality. Covenant is the first place (a school setting) that I have seen teens like me so coordinated, nice and so invested in prayer, it was and still is a sight to behold. Oh, I can’t tell what joy I feel when I remember my journey and how I was favored of the Lord, anytime I find myself in a chapel service, service unit prayer meeting and pre-service. I am always blessed, and it makes me feel nothing but gratitude to God, just like Jacob said “Indeed the lord is in this place “.

Now let me give you the details of my personal life in CU as a microbiology student. In a normal week here’s how it goes …. Monday morning, we in 100level have CHOP you might be wondering what that means I’ll tell you; it means Covenant hour of prayer. It holds in the chapel by 5:30 am and attendance is compulsory if you wish to write exams. I should have mentioned that we have our attendance tied to a lot of things like CHOP, General chapel services and Roll call which we take every night in our various halls of residence. Tuesdays are a whole lot as I happen to have classes back-to-back from 8am-7pm (P.S - that really strains me). Then Thursdays I normally go for service in my college (CST) while Wednesday is not as stressful as the others. My Fridays are the best as I have just a class which gives room for me relax and study. On Saturday evening we have word feast while on Sundays we have chapel service.

Going further in this blog is the food and hostel systems. For sure I give a big hand to the school for the time they took to diversify my taste buds. Now, you may be wondering, where the problem is here, drumroll please ……. It starts from the real devastatingly long lines that are no joke, as you can be on a line for almost an hour. It is so discouraging that you might not have that much tolerance to wait so just retire to your hall. I currently reside in Mary Hall and taking roll call at night can be compared to the survival of the fittest in a jungle. Currently, I am finding it easy to cope as I am a team player and we at CU play to win and in the spirit of wining, the school and a lot of testimonies encourages me to do all I can to bag a 5.0 GPA and make my parents proud. One last place in this school that I have been to and totally love is the Centre for Learning Resources building(library); it is a place I look forward to spending a lot of my time.

Just like I said in the beginning you all can testify to the fact that my experience cannot be described in just a word. CU has been amazing, beautiful, welcoming, inspiring, spirit stirring, mind draining and physically stressful as you can see, I am going through a lot. This is me and my story hope you loved today’s edition of INTO THE LIFE OF A CU STUDENT. Signing out, Queen in Hebron.
